Admissions Policy and Procedures

Criteria for Admissions Consideration:

Students must be able to complete all required prerequisite courses prior to the start of the Fall semester for which they seek admission. Prerequisite grade point average must be no less than 2.5 when the application is reviewed (January - February).

UB Students:

University at Buffalo students should submit their application to the NMT Program office by Feburary 15th.

The Qualified Freshman Admissions Policy pertains ONLY to those students that enter the University as freshman and declared NMT as their intended major on their university application.

Transfer Students:

Transfer students should complete their application to the University at Buffalo by January 15th.
Transcripts showing Fall semester course grades must also be received at the University by January 15th.

Note: Late applicants will be considered on a space available basis.

Application Process:

Applicants must meet with members of the Selection Committee for personal interviews (scheduled during the Spring semester). Phone interviews can be arranged for students that live a considerable distance from the university.

Students lacking 1 prerequisite course or total semester hours that can be completed during the summer session between the sophomore and junior years will be considered for admission. However, applicants that have 0 prerequisites to complete in the summer will be given preference. Prerequisite courses taken at another school must be equivalent in content to those listed to be transferrable.

Final decisions regarding acceptance are made prior to the end of the spring semester. Selection is based on quality point average and information gathered through the interview process.

Any applicant whose native language is not English will not be accepted into the Program unless they have sucessfully passed the University "SPEAK" test.

Advisement:

Students interested in Nuclear Medicine Technology are encouraged to contact the NMT Program Director early in their undergraduate career. It is strongly recommended that students visit a clinical Nuclear Medicine Department prior to applying to the Program.

Prerequisite courses taken at other schools must be equivalent in content to the UB courses listed above. To determine course equivalency of prerequisite courses taken at other schools and/or higher level courses email the NMT Program Director.
